Diamond cutting tools of high hardness and other excellent properties make it very suitable forprocessing silicon alloy, aluminum alloy, copper alloy and other non-ferrous metal materials andnonmetal materials, fiber reinforced composites, graphite, phenolic resin. Natural diamond materialsbecause of the small size, high price, easy processing and other reasons, its application is limited.Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tool although in the semi finishing, finishing plays an important role,but because of the shape of the blade, no single chip breaking groove and the geometric parameters of the limitations, it is difficult to give full play to its excellent performance. Diamond thick film tool is the diamond film deposition on cemented carbide cutting tool made of welding on the blade, with high performance to price and excellent processing performance than. Research,development and application of diamond thick film end milling cutter in our country is still in its infancy. In this paper, the microstructure of diamond thick film end milling cutter design andpreparation and application in ultra precision machining process was studied.
